*Update* Storm Eunice has caused significant disruption across Haringey, with reports of fallen trees, damage to buildings and scattered debris.
Our main priority has been the safety of our residents, and everyone working in the borough, and our teams have been hard at work across the borough addressing issues caused by the storm.
Over the weekend, extra resources will be on hand to continue clearing fallen trees and debris, and repairing or making safe damage to buildings and homes.
Please report fallen trees and debris, and damage to buildings on our Emergency Out of Hours line: 020 8489 0000.
Homes for Haringey tenants who have experienced property damage due to the storm can report their repairs online, or call 020 8489 5611 (lines are open 8am to 6pm weekdays but you can report an emergency repair on this number at any time).
If your home or business property has been damaged due to the storm, please visit the Association of British Insurers for advice on insurance.
Updates on service closures and impacts can be found here.
The Met Office has issued a Red Warning following reports that Storm Eunice is due to arrive in the UK early on Friday 18 February 2022.
Extremely strong winds and heavy rain are expected, with a chance of danger to life from flying debris, damage to buildings and homes, travel disruption, fallen trees and power outages.
You should stay home unless your journey is essential, and take extra caution if needing to move around the borough.
Visit the Met Office for weather updates, and advice on how to be prepared for a storm, stay safe and protect your property.
The London Fire Brigade has issued the following recommendations for staying safe during the storm:
- Ensure loose items around your home and on balconies, like garden furniture, are secured or safely stored away.
- Stay inside where possible. If you must travel take extra care, allow yourself extra time.
- If you need to travel, be aware of areas where you are likely to be exposed to side winds or falling debris.
- Don’t shelter under trees.
- If a tree has fallen, report it to your local council (details on how to do this are below).
- Firefighters are prepared and are trained to deal with severe weather, including high winds, but please only call 999 in a genuine emergency.
- If you have a power cut, take extra care with candles. Place them in fire-resistant holders on a flat, stable surface where they won’t be knocked over. Make sure you put them out when you leave the room and especially before bed.
- Check on your neighbours, particularly those who are vulnerable.
If you are experiencing a power cut, please visit UK Power Networks (external link) for regular updates and information. You can also:

- Call 105 free of charge to speak to their customer service team, report a power cut or damage to the electricity network
- Tweet @UKPowerNetworks to report a power cut or to receive updates
If you notice that a tree has fallen in the borough and is blocking pedestrian or vehicle access or is causing danger, please call 020 8489 0000 to report it.

Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol has been activated to support those affected by homelessness. If you spot someone sleeping rough, please let us know online via StreetLink or by calling 0300 500 0914, so our outreach team can locate them and offer them somewhere warm and safe to stay.
It is recommended that you do not visit our parks and open spaces during the storm and take extra care if needing to move around the borough. Alexandra Park and Palace will be closed on Friday 18 February due to the storm.
All NLWA outdoor Reuse and Recycling Centres, including the Western Road site, will be closed today. If you have a booking you will be notified by email of any closures, and updates will be posted here (external link).
