Haringey SEND Strategy and Local Area SEND Inspection Report

In July, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducted a joint inspection of Haringey to judge our effectiveness in implementing the disability and special educational needs reforms as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014.

The inspection report was published on Friday 8 October 2021 - you can find out more and read the report on our Local Offer pages.

The Local Authority and CCG have been working hard to continue to develop the SEND strategy and plans in response to consultations. In November, 2 workshops were held to consider the actions which needed to be undertaken to address the issues raised by the Ofsted inspection, the 3 areas which Ofsted asked the Local Authority and CCG to improve are:

  1. The quality and timeliness of education, health and care plans
  2. The waiting times for assessments for autism diagnosis
  3. Co-production and communication with parents

Thank you to all parents and carers who contributed to the SEND Strategy consultation and the workshops to create a Written Statement of Action following the Ofsted inspection. Our new strategy will be making its way through various governance processes for approval and published on our local offer webpages in March.

The final Written Statement of Action plan will appear on the Local Offer News section in January when it has been finalised and all the written and verbal feedback from parents and carers has been incorporated.
