80 sweet homes in Wood Green
Leader of the council, Peray Ahmet, Cllr Ruth Gordon, Cabinet Member for House Building, Placemaking and Development and senior officers visited the former Chocolate Factory - one of the many exciting schemes we are working on to build more council homes across Haringey.
The new development which is a seven-storey development will comprise of 71 apartments and nine duplex houses, - over 50% of these homes will be family sized homes and around 10% of the units will be wheelchair accessible or easily adaptable for wheelchair use.
The former derelict land will be transformed and give individuals and families the opportunity to put down permanent roots in Haringey.

Sustainability has been central to the planning and design of the scheme. It is anticipated the new builds will be connected to the District Energy Network - harnessing energy from otherwise wasted sources to reduce emissions and protect residents from fuel poverty. In addition to this, the homes will have high levels of insulation and will be constructed with responsibly sourced and environmentally friendly materials.
Residents will also have access to a shared garden with new trees, plants and landscaping. Landscaping improvements will include a podium communal garden to enhance the setting of the new development and the quality and appearance of the local environment.
