Week of Action to make Bruce Grove safer

Crime, antisocial behaviour and illegal waste dumping are among the key issues to be addressed by Haringey Council in a Week of Action to improve safety for residents in Bruce Grove.

This will be the first of a series of Weeks of Action, which will bring together services from across the council, and external partners such as the police, to work with communities with a focus on tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, as well as improving community engagement and longer-term trust and confidence.

Haringey Council plans to coordinate one Week of Action per month, each one targeting a different area of the borough.

The Week of Action in Bruce Grove will take place from 26 September until 2 October, focusing on the area around Bruce Grove Station. Activities will include joint patrols by the police and the council’s ASB and Waste Enforcement Teams, youth engagement sessions from Haringey Community Gold, community engagement work from addiction support group BUBIC, and inspection and compliance checks by the council’s Private Sector Housing Team.

Cllr Adam Jogee, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Jobs and Community Cohesion, said:

“We want Haringey to be a borough where all our residents feel safe on our streets and feel a sense of pride in their neighbourhoods. Our Weeks of Action initiative is a key part of making this a reality and ensuring that no part of the borough is left behind as we work together to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour.

“I’m looking forward to seeing our officers and partners out and about in Bruce Grove this week, and in other locations across the borough in the coming months. I encourage all residents to engage with them and tell them about the issues affecting their local areas so that together we can make Haringey a safer and more pleasant place for everyone.”
