Celebrate the festive season in Haringey
It’s time to wrap up warm and head to your local town centre for a jam-packed festive fun weekend.
Haringey Council has teamed up with Town Centre Traders Associations across the borough to offer a bumper load of activities from Thursday 2 December to Sunday 5 December.
From Santa’s Grotto and food and drink markets to tree light switch-ons and carols around the tree, there is something for all the family to enjoy.
Events are taking place on Turnpike Lane, Bruce Grove, Tottenham Green, Crouch End, Hornsey High Street, Green Lanes and Myddleton Road.
The Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Adam Jogee and Cabinet Member House Building, Placemaking and Development, Cllr Ruth Gordon will be helping to light up the borough’s Christmas trees with some special guests including Ledley King, Ossie Ardiles and Neil Morrissey.
New for this year is Celebrate Tottenham, a first of its kind community event coming to Tottenham Green. Running across Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 December, Celebrate will host the best food, drink, crafts and gifts that Haringey has to offer. With everything from live cooking demos showcasing Tottenham's amazing range of cuisines from all around the world, to live entertainment on our music stage. This event has kindly been sponsored by Argent Related and Marlborough Highways.
We are also putting together a festive advent calendar this year. You can enjoy fantastic local offers courtesy of local businesses from 1 December. Make sure you look at www.haringeychristmas.co.uk (external link) each day to see which shops are doing something special.
Cllr Ruth Gordon Cabinet Member for House Building, Placemaking and Development said:
Haringey’s high streets and town centres are the heart of the community. I am delighted to be part of the events taking place this weekend. Join me and check out some of the borough’s most talented and creative traders and help to support Haringey’s high streets.”
We are also asking residents to shop local and support your high streets as Christmas trees, twinkling lights and festive decorations pop up across Haringey this Small Business Saturday (4 December).
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide day recognising the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises and encouraging consumers to shop locally and support the businesses in their communities. Read more about it here: www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com (external links).
