Help us improve the visibility of Haringey's industrial areas

Haringey’s industrial areas are significant employment locations in the borough and are the base of some of Haringey’s largest companies, generating thousands of jobs and employment opportunities.

The borough’s industrial areas are home to some of the UK’s leading companies spanning several sectors, including food and drink production, engineering, manufacturing, clothing production, printing, and creatives.

Many of these companies serve national and international markets as well as other supply chains.

However, despite their importance to the local economy, in most cases, businesses based in the industrial areas suffer from a lack of visibility, identity, a poor sense of arrival and navigation.

A new signage and wayfinding design strategy

To support our industrial area-based businesses and address this issue, the council has commissioned industry experts Design JD (external link) to produce an industrial area signage and wayfinding design strategy.

This will deliver the council with a borough-wide approach for clearer navigation of our industrial area locations for the benefit of businesses, suppliers, customers and residents across Haringey.

The commission will also include the installation of the agreed signage and wayfinding design in a pilot area of North Tottenham - covering Brantwood Road, Tariff Road and West Road, ahead of a future roll-out across the borough.

Progress to date

To date, we have conducted an extensive phase of research, and engaged our key internal stakeholders and external partners.

To further inform our research, and to help in the production of the strategy, we've gathered excellent insight from businesses and visitors to our industrial areas. We know that you know only too well the navigational issues within the industrial areas and have expressed views on how to change them, which we have appreciated.

Next steps

We are currently writing the industrial area signage and wayfinding design strategy. The final report will be published in due course.
