The Little Big Top Travelling Exhibition will be touring our borough for more than a whole month, starting at Hornsey Library next week (Monday 15 September–Saturday 20 September).
Subsequent stop-offs at Wood Green Library (Monday 22 September–Saturday 4 October) and Marcus Garvey Library (Monday 6 October-Sunday 19 October) are on the schedule and all you have to do is ‘roll up, roll up’ to experience half a century of history from North London’s iconic arts venue.
These three events are family-friendly and FREE and we’re grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for helping to make it all possible.
It’s Roald Dahl Story Day on Saturday (13 September), when children around the world celebrate his marvellous characters, stories and worlds – from Matilda to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Children are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters for a Story Day Activity at Coombes Croft Library (11am-1pm, Suitable for ages five to 12), where they can design a personalised Willy Wonka Top Hat to go with their outfits.
Marcus Garvey Library is playing host to an Enormous Crocodile Puppet craft session on Saturday morning (10:30am-11:30am), with a screening of the motion picture film The BFG (2016, Certificate: PG, Running time: 117 minutes) in the mid-afternoon (2:30pm-4:30pm).
The kids can also decorate their very own Roald Dahl Day Hat or make Mr Twit’s Beard at Hornsey Library in the afternoon (2pm-3pm, Suitable for ages four+).
Our Library of the Month is Highgate. Throughout September, we’ll be highlighting this fabulous facility and the many community initiatives it is home to, so there’s never been a better time to pay a visit to this highly popular social hub.
There’s still time for you to help shape our libraries of the future too! Respond to our online survey by this Sunday (14 September) to have your day on our priorities for the future of our libraries.
