In collaboration with the NHS North Central London Integrated Care System, Haringey Council is jointly encouraging people to download the Stay Alive app and to let them know if they are thinking about suicide or worried about someone else, it is okay to ask for help.
This is an award-winning suicide prevention resource designed by Grassroots Suicide Prevention, packed full of useful information and tools to help people stay safe in crisis.
It is available as a free-to-download app (Android or iOS) or on a web browser and has a wide range of features including advice for when you may be struggling with suicidal thoughts, and guidance for people worried about someone else.
Cllr Lucia das Neves, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Wellbeing, said:
“In Haringey, we are working hard to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for those that live, work and volunteer in the borough.
“Through tackling wider health inequalities, we are committed to reducing the number of suicides, and creating a fairer, more equal borough.
“On such a powerful day the message is clear that no-one should feel left alone and we urge anyone struggling to reach out for support.”
Joe Davies, NCL Suicide Prevention Programme Manager said:
“This campaign is part of a wider NHS programme of work aiming to reduce suicides rates across North Central London through actions such as training the local workforce in suicide prevention, community grant funding for local voluntary sector organisations, and developing targeted support offers for groups identified as at an increased risk of suicide.”
