COVID-19: new enforcement powers for businesses and licensing information.

Dog Fouling

It is against the law to allow a dog to foul in a public place and make no attempt to clean up after it. If caught owners can face a Fixed Penalty Fine.

The dangers of dog mess

As well as being unpleasant, dog fouling is also a serious health hazard. Dog mess carries potential diseases for both humans and dogs:

  • Toxocara T Canis is a serious infection which can potentially cause severe eye infection and, in the most serious cases, make humans go blind. Children are most at risk;
  • Parvo is a potentially fatal disease which is transferred between dogs.
