Haringey Walks

Haringey Walks would like to offer more  weekly walks in the Borough for disabled people and their families. For more information on the wellbeing walks and community walks in the Borough as well as walk leader training or any other questions they may have about walks in Haringey, please call Anita, Walks Co-ordinator on 079 7357 1921 or email anita@sanjurotrainingsystems.com

All the wellbeing walks listed run every week (come rain or shine). Except for Bank Holidays or due to the walk leaders’ ill health/holidays.

Mondays:

9.20am - Lordship recreation  ground, at the gates near the traffic lights on Downhills Park Road, N17 6NY

11am - Bottom gates of Alexandra Park, N8 7HP (by Safe Store).

Wednesdays:

10am - Outside the Café in Markfield Park, N15 4RB

11.15am - In the cafe at Queenswood Surgery, N8 8JD

1.30pm - T on the Green, Bruce Castle Park Pavillion, N17 8NJU

6pm - Next to Cafe Forks & Green, West Green Road, N15 4AB

Thursdays:

11am - Morum House GP practice 3-5 Bounds Green Road, N22 8HE

Fridays:

Haringey Youth Service Summer Offer

Haringey’s Youth Service will be providing a free open access provision for young people aged 11 to 19 years old every weekday throughout the entire summer holidays from 2 to 8pm at Bruce Grove Youth Space (external link) and the brand-new youth hub located in Wood Green, Rising Green Youth Hub (external link).

The summer holiday provision is supported by Haringey’s Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme which helps to ensure that young people have access to free positive activities, food, and support throughout the holiday period.

Bruce Grove Youth Space: Monday 25 July to Friday 26 August

When: Monday - Thursday (Friday will be trips!)

Point Blank Music School's summer courses 

There are a limited number of free spaces available for students (aged 14-19) who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • experience of local authority care 
  • a disability, long-term health condition
  • specific learning difficulty or mental health condition
  • of Black, Asian or minority ethnic heritage
  • female or female-identifying
  • living in a postcode identified as having low participation in higher education (POLAR4 Q1 or Q2)
  • living in a postcode identified as being in an area of relative deprivation (IMD Q1 or Q2)

If any young people (14 – 19) are eligible and interested in taking part, please ask them to complete this form (external link). Point Blank will be in touch to confirm places by Friday 15 July.

Haringey Shed Theatre summer courses 

Children’s Theatre (age 7-11)

Invention directed by Ibrahim Farouk Sesay.

This stage production will centre around a group of creatives: the actors, the agents, the directors and producers working together to make the first television show.

When: Monday 25 July – Friday 29 July (5 days)
Time: 10am – 4pm each day
Location: Haringey Sixth Form College 

Youth Theatre (age 11-16) 

Transmission directed by Aran Cherkez in collaboration with ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company.

This outdoor site-specific production at Alexandra Palace will celebrate 100 years of the BBC where we will focus upon key moments within BBC history.

When: Monday 1 August – Friday 12 August (10 days)
Time: 10am – 4pm each day
Location: Haringey Sixth Form College and Alexandra Palace 
Cost: Pay What You Can (recommended price, £10 per day)

Sanjuro Martial Arts 

Inclusive free taster class at the Autism Hub.

First Saturday of every month, 2pm - 3pm everyone is welcome.

Come along and try the class. Your instructor is Anthony and you can work together to develop the class.

Free Upcoming EYSEND Training

Free Early Years Special Educational Needs and disabilities training - available in September:

  • 13 September - Meeting the needs of every child (nasen)
    This webinar will provide EY practitioners with a thorough understanding of inclusive practice for SEND in EY settings
  • 13 September - support for speech and language issues in young children (Contact and I CAN)
    This parent workshop will help you to think about how you can best communicate with your child and how you can share this knowledge with those in their early years and school setting.
  • 15 September - Supporting social communication in the EY, Part 1 (I CAN)
    This workshop for early years SENCos, managers and early years practitioners will help to enable excellent support for social communication in early years settings. 
  • 15 September - Encouraging positive behaviour (Contact)
    This parent/carer workshop will explore some of the issues around behaviour and will look at ways of supporting and encouraging your child.
  • 15 September - Toilet training (Contact)
    Advice and strategies for parents/carers/practitioners on how to toilet train a child/children with additional needs.  (0-5 years)
  • 20 September - Support for parents of children with anxiety (Contact)
    A workshop for parents/carers of children aged 0 to 5 with additional needs. Strategies to help your children recognise and manage their anxiety.
  • 21 September - working with parent/carers of children with SEND (contact)
    Our workshop aim to help professionals increase understanding and awareness of disability and the effect on the family. Enable more effective communication with parents and a better start to a working relationship with parents of children with SEND.
  • 29 September - Supporting social communication in the EY, Part 2 (I CAN)
    This workshop for early years SENCos, managers and early years practitioners will help to enable excellent support for social communication in early years settings.
