Elevated Youth Haringey at Markfield: Exploring a Youth Social Club

Recently, Andrew, one of our panel members, went on an adventure to the Markfield Project to experience their 'All for One' club and report on his experience.

'All for One' is a club tailored for young people with autism or Asperger's Syndrome, meeting every Monday from 6.30pm to 9pm at The Markfield Project. The group enjoys a range of activities, including music, crafts, discussion groups, fitness sessions, dance, DJing, and exciting trips.

Andrew recalls:

"It was a little scary at first because I didn't know anyone. I had met some of the staff before, but I didn't know any of the members.

"Some of the members agreed to help us answer some questions on transitions, which was a good way of starting a conversation."

As he stepped into the club, Andrew found everyone to be genuinely friendly, and he was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the music playing during the event.

Andrew said, reflecting on his visit:

"It turned out to be a fun experience."

The social club aims to help adults develop social skills, participate in arts and sports activities, and participate in trips. The group also discusses issues affecting their well-being in a safe and supportive group, where difference is enjoyed and celebrated.
