Residents benefit from best-practice Haringey Learns

Residents across the borough are receiving the very best advice, guidance and information when it comes to employment and training opportunities after Haringey Learns was accredited to the Department for Education’s (DfE’s) matrix Standard.

Supporting over 1,700 adults each year, Haringey Learns enables people to achieve their learning and employment goals, with an over-riding mission to be a positive force in the wider community.

The Haringey Learns courses utilise the very latest technology and take place at Wood Green Library in a purpose-designed learning centre – an inclusive and open space where learners see themselves as a community.

Over 76% of learners say that they have increased confidence after taking a Haringey Learns course.

A learner taking an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) for Bookkeeping course commented:

As well as being more aware of my own finances, I now understand business and bookkeeping English.

I feel confident about being able to work in an office.

Following on from successfully gaining a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted too, obtaining the DFE’s matrix Standard is a further cause for celebration for the provision’s practitioners and beneficiaries as the accreditation benchmarks organisations against best practice in the delivery of high-quality information, advice and guidance (IAG) services.

Congratulations to the Haringey Learns team and the learners!
