Contaminated bins
What is a contaminated bin?
Contamination is when you put the wrong items in either your rubbish or recycling bin. Use our which bin to use page to identify which items can and cannot go in the recycling or rubbish bin.
How do we treat contaminated bins?
We cannot collect contaminated waste on the usual round as it will contaminate the other items in the dust cart. The crew leave the contaminated bin and log a contamination report.
You will need to clear the contamination from your recycling bin so that the bin can be collected on your next scheduled collection.
If you are unsure what should go in household bins then we can arrange an outreach officer to visit you. Contact Veolia if you want advice.
