Our CCTV cameras are there to help prevent and detect crime, antisocial behaviour and disorder and to help enforce traffic and parking regulations.
The Data Protection Act gives people the right to access personal information about themselves, which could include CCTV images showing them. It does not give you the right view the images of other people. You cannot request footage of someone else unless you have their permission to do so. If there are other people in the footage we may refuse to provide it to you.
Please note that we will not provide footage to individuals where a crime has been committed or is suspected. We only provide the footage to the police. You must report the incident to the Police, and they will then liaise with us. This includes road traffic accidents or collisions where there has been a driving offence.
Alternatively, you can obtain a court order to access the footage.
All requests for CCTV footage or images must be made promptly as it is only kept for 28 days.
If you believe you have been recorded on one of our cameras and would like to obtain the footage, please submit a subject access request.
You will be required to provide:
- Photographic proof of identity
- Proof of address
- The specific location and time of the event
- A description so that we can identify you
