The Housing Benefit overpayment team may contact you by text message and email to let you know how much you owe and how to pay.

What to expect in your text message

The text message you will receive will be sent from LBHaringey and will say the following:

Dear (first name/last name). You currently have an outstanding matter with Haringey Council Housing Benefit Overpayment Team. For details visit https://sms.haringey.gov.uk/t/b4ign081690 or call 0208 489 2766. Please do not ignore this message.

If you click the link in the text message you've received you will be asked to verify your postcode on a page with the title 'Confirm your identity'. You will then be forwarded to a screen with your account details.

What to expect in your email

The email:

  • will be sent from: info@debt.haringey.gov.uk
  • subject will be: FAO: (first name/last name) Your 12345 Reminder - Do not ignore
  • body will include your invoice number, address and the overpayment outstanding balance 
  • will be signed from the Corporate Debt Management Team Haringey Council
