Cycle training for children
We know that parents are keen to get their children cycling and that there's a lot of advice online.
Children aged 2 to 3 enjoy using balance bikes so they can gain confidence and progress straight onto 2 wheels with no stabilisers.
We recommend you first check that any bike you plan to use is the right size for your child. Adjust the seat to allow them to have their feet on the floor.

The Haringey Safer Cycling Book also has tips and advice on travelling by bike, from adjusting the height of a bike to road skills.

Transport for London (TfL) has a free online course to help you improve your cycling skills and feel more confident.
You'll learn how to:
- get you and your bike prepared for the road
- start cycling on the road safely and responsibly

Cycle training for delivery drivers
As part of a London-wide campaign to improve road safety, we are offering free cycle training for delivery drivers to ensure you can carry out deliveries safely and legally. You will also receive a free helmet or bike lock along with your training.
