If you would like to be referred to the service please discuss this with your GP.

Programmes will be held in a range of locations across Haringey and the neighbouring boroughs of Camden and Islington.

If there isn't a programme running in your area at the time of your referral, you will be placed onto the area waiting list until the next programme begins. You also have the opportunity to attend programmes in the other areas should you wish.

For any questions about your referral, to find out where your nearest programme is or for help in understanding more about the programme, please call 0800 043 9806 (freephone).

The booking team is available from 8am – 6.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 5.30pm on a Friday.

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes occurs when not enough insulin is produced by the body for it to function properly, or when the body’s cells do not react to insulin.

Risk Factors

Ethnicity, family history, and weight are some of the factors that place you at higher risk of developing diabetes. The main activities that individuals should undertake to reduce the risk of developing diabetes are physical activity and healthy eating. Information on these topics, the signs and symptoms of Type 2 diabetes and treatment options can be found on the Diabetes UK website (external link).
