Anchor Project - Training

TrainingTraining, guidance and resources are available for staff working in different settings to use with children and their families. These are informed by research focussed on relationship building, emotional wellbeing and brain development.

Schools training programme

The Anchor Project offers multi agency training which is delivered centrally throughout the year covering the following areas:

  • Increased concentration for thinking and learning
  • Understanding behaviour to support the learning needs of vulnerable children
  • Effective, policy systems and practice for all

Anchor Project bundle A

This school-based training package provides school staff with a range of simple strategies which can be applied every day, bridging research to practice. The year-long training programme to schools focuses on whole school practices to increase wellbeing, concentration in the classroom and increased stability within the school community, reducing exclusion rates.

Philosophy session plans

Working in partnership with Stephen Bovey at Highgate school we have developed philosophical enquiry session plans based on the Resilience Wheel, a sample session outline is available on the tools page (lesson plans are included in the training bundle).

Emotional Wellbeing Forum

This termly forum is for all Haringey schools. It runs for 1.5 hours at a central venue in the borough.

The forum is well-attended by Emotional Well Being Coordinators and is a multi-agency event so is a great networking opportunity.

Health

This is available to support health care professionals to use the Anchor approach to assess bio-social needs, identifying areas of strength and areas for development, as appropriate. Also, to develop strategies and interventions to meet those needs within the Signs of Safety framework.

Support is available to work with teams to apply the thinking to casework as appropriate.

Training to support health staff to use tools is available within the wellbeing pathway.

Social care

This is available to support social care professionals to use the Anchor approach to assess growth needs, identifying areas of strength and areas for development. Also, to develop strategies and interventions to meet those needs within the Signs of Safety framework.

Support is available to teams engaging with the project to apply the thinking to case-work.

Haringey Fostering Service has set up foster carer micro-support groups to provide a peer network system of support. The Anchor Project supports these groups, providing an underpinning of research-based training, tools and advice to apply to cases.
