Anchor Project - Information for Social Care Workers

Anchor Project supports social workers with children and young people of all ages.

Using the resilience wheel, they can assess a young person’s strengths and identify areas requiring development in terms of wellbeing and based on the six parts of the resilience wheel.

The resilience wheel also provides a structure to interpret the voice of the child/young person which will inform assessment and planning. It links with Signs of Safety; a model used in social care, health and education.

Social care staff can promote the resilience wheel and Anchor tools to provide a common language and approach across agencies. Facilitating increased health and wellbeing and greater stability of home and school placements so that children thrive.

What has been achieved

The co-development of a pilot providing support to foster carers, using a peer support model, with Anchor providing training and support.

A second group is to be established following positive feedback about the group.

‘We have found that this tool has been useful to encourage the children’s sense of belonging and empowerment, which will add to their security within the placement and will equip them for future developmental challenges as they grow in the placement.’
