COVID-19: changes to Planning and Building Control services.

Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum and Area

On 15 December 2015, the London Borough of Haringey approved the designation of the Crouch End Neighbourhood Area and the Neighbourhood Forum.

Re-Designation Application Consultation

After 5 years in operation, a Forum must apply to be re-designated. The Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum has now applied to the council to be formally re-designated as a neighbourhood forum, in accordance with the Town and Country Planning Act (1990) and neighbourhood planning regulations.

How does this affect me?

If the application is agreed by the council, the Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum can continue to work on preparing a Neighbourhood Plan for the area.

A neighbourhood plan is a statutory planning document setting out general planning policies for the development and use of land in a neighbourhood.

The council are now seeking views and comments on the application from residents and other interested stakeholders. The consultation begins on 5 February and all responses must be submitted by 19 March 2021.

The application shows the area in which the Forum intends to use neighbourhood planning powers and will be able to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for Crouch End. Representations should consider whether the neighbourhood forum is appropriate to be re-designated.

The Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum must show how they have sought to comply with the conditions for neighbourhood forum designation. These are set out in section 61F(5) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 as applied to neighbourhood plans by section 38A of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

To be designated a neighbourhood forum must have a membership that includes a minimum of 21 individuals who either:

  • live in the neighbourhood area
  • work there
  • and/or are elected members for a local authority that includes all or part of the neighbourhood area

How to comment

You can respond by email to: planning.policy@haringey.gov.uk or by post to:

  • Planning Policy Team, London Borough of Haringey, River Park House (6th Floor), Wood Green, N22 8HQ

If re-designated, the Neighbourhood Forum will produce a Neighbourhood Plan for their Area which, together with Haringey’s adopted planning policy documents, will form the basis for determining planning applications in the Crouch End Neighbourhood Area.
