Change or cancel your parking permit

If you no longer need your parking permit, you can cancel it.

Types of permit

You can cancel and may get a refund on:

• borough wide and utility permits
• business permit
• car park season ticket permits
• doctors' permit
• essential services permit
• resident care at home permit
• resident permit

Cost

We charge £26.30 to process your refund. This will be taken off any refund amount paid to you.

Refund amount

You’ll get a refund for each full month remaining on your permit.

Fraud

If you applied for your permit fraudulently, for example you lied to get a permit, we may not give you a refund.

Cancel your permit and request a refund

1. Log in to your online parking account.
2. Under 'Your Account', click 'Contact Us'.
3. Select ‘Existing permit or qualification’.
4. Under 'Your permits', select the permit you wish to cancel.
5. Select 'Cancel permit'.
6. Click 'Cancel this permit'.

We will process your cancellation. Refunds can take up to 15 working days, or longer for cheque refunds.

If we cannot refund to your original payment card, for example, the card has expired or was cancelled, we will refund you by cheque.

Please note that your permit is active until we process your cancellation. If you want to apply for a new resident permit, you must wait until we cancel your old one. If not, you may be charged a second permit fee.
