How we work out the cost of your permit
Costs are made up of permit charges plus surcharges. The total cost of your permit will be shown in your online parking account when applying for a permit.
Permit charge
- Battery electric vehicles: have a separate charge band (battery electric vehicles mean vehicles with wholly electrical power, and charged from an external electrical source)
- Vehicles registered after 1 March 2001: If your vehicle was registered after 1 March 2001, the cost is based on the environmental impact of your vehicle – see GOV.UK for details on how much CO2 your vehicle produces (g/km).
- Vehicles registered before 1 March 2001: If your vehicle was registered before March 2001, your vehicle's CO2 emissions aren't available. The cost of your permit is based on your vehicle's engine size (CCs)
Permit surcharge for diesel vehicles
- Extra charge for diesel vehicles - £100
Permit surcharge cost for multiple permits per address
Extra charge for more than 1 permit per business address:
- 2nd permit per address: £65
- 3rd permit per address: £130
- 4th permit per address: £195
- 5th+ permit per address: £260
Vehicle size surcharge
A vehicle size surcharge applies for larger vehicles. The surcharge will be automatically calculated in your parking account when you apply.
- vehicles from 4m to 4.499m in length – a 5% surcharge applies
- vehicles from 4.5m in length – a 10% surcharge applies
