Electric Vehicle Charging Points
As part of the council’s action plan to promote and encourage the uptake of Electric Vehicles, we are considering all options available to increase the number of Electric Vehicles charging points/bays in the borough. These includes:
- on-street standard charging points
- lamp column charging points, and
- rapid charging points
At present there are 59 publicly accessible Electric Vehicle charging points in the borough, operated by Source London and Polar networks.
The are 37 7kw and one 22kw standard EV charging points at 14 locations in the borough which are operated by Source London. Please visit the Source London website (external link) for further information how to use this EV points.
There are 12 Standard EV charging points at five locations and five rapid charging points in the borough. One of the rapid charging point is for Taxis only. These points are managed by BP Chargemaster and are part of the Polar network. Please visit the Polar website (external link) for further information on how to use this EV points.

For Phase 2 of the programme (for the financial year 2019/2020), we were investigating 30 locations/streets for the possible introduction of EV charging points - these were finalised in February.
The installation works for these were due to start at the end of March 2020, but these were put on hold due to the COVID-19 restrictions. For this phase, the plan was to instal 25 lamp column charging points and 12 on-street standard EV charging points at various locations in the borough.
We have completed the installation of the 12 on-street standard charging points and these are now in operation as of 26 July 2020. The EV points are located in:
- Princes Avenue, N10
- Down Hills Park Road N17
- Ewart Grove,N22
- Henningham Road, N17
- Landrock Road, N8
These charge points are managed by BP Chargemaster and are part of the Polar network. Please visit the Polar website (external link) for further information on how to use these EV points.
We are in the process of programming the works for the 25 lamp charging points and we expect these to be installed next month. We will update this page with further information when these EV points come into operation.
If you would like to request an on-street charging point or suggest a location to be considered for installation of a charging point, please fill in our dedicated e-form:
Please note the council does not instal charging bays/points for individual use or for individual requests. However, if there are several requests from a particular area, we may consider introducing charging point/s which serve a number of users. The council will instal charging points based on proven demand in an area and available funding/resources.
