Free parking

On bank holidays and public holidays (external link), parking is free in:

• a controlled parking zone (CPZ) - no need to have a resident or visitor parking permit
• all on-street pay by phone parking bays
• open council car parks

Where you cannot park

Normal rules apply so you cannot park:

• on double yellow lines
• in 24-hour loading bays
• in disabled bays
• in bus stops
• in taxi ranks/bays
• on pavements or grass verges
• where event day parking restrictions apply
• on zigzags, eg pedestrian crossings
