Update on COVID-19 in Haringey
COVID-19 infection rates are increasing across Haringey, with an increase in new cases of 70 above the number reported last week. The Delta variant (first originated from India) is the dominant variant for new cases. This variant is shown to be more transmissible than the previously dominant Kent variant.
129,572 (63%) people in Haringey have now had at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, while 74,827 (36%) people have had both doses. The NHS is inviting all residents aged 25+ to get vaccinated. Please make sure you get vaccinated when it is your turn.
To protect yourself and others, please continue to follow public health guidance:
Wash your hands regularly, use a face covering when social distancing is not possible and try to keep your distance from those not in your household. Please remember that it is safest to meet people outdoors in the fresh air because COVID-19 particles are blown away.
Following these simple steps could make a significant difference in reducing the transmission of Covid-19 and help protect you and your friends, colleagues and family from the virus. Let’s all play our part to #KeepHaringeySafe
