A top class repairs service for council tenants
Council tenants in Haringey are benefitting from new kitchens and bathrooms, delivered by Homes for Haringey’s recently expanded in-house repairs service.
Homes for Haringey brought improvement works back in-house in October 2019, in response to feedback from tenants about the quality of work done by contractors. The new service is providing high quality kitchens and bathrooms to residents including happy customer Rahim Shabbir, who recently received a new kitchen in his Wood Green home.
Rahim was visited by Haringey Council's Cabinet Member for Housing and Estate Renewal, Cllr Emine Ibrahim, and Homes for Haringey’s Managing Director, Sean McLaughlin, who went to see the work in person.
Sean McLaughlin said: “Every resident should expect the same high level of improvement work in their home and that is why we made the decision to bring kitchen and bathroom fitting back in-house. Our team has a lot of expertise and experience, providing consistently high quality work to residents. They install everything from worktops to cupboards – that’s everything including the kitchen sink!”
Haringey Council has a five year £250m plan to improve council properties across the borough, as well as an ambitious plan to deliver 1000 new council homes at council rents by 2022.
