Shop and save lives: Primark in Wood Green to host COVID vaccine clinic on bank holiday weekend
Primark is partnering with the NHS in Haringey and Haringey Council to host a walk-in vaccine clinic in its Wood Green store on Saturday 28 August, from 10:00am – 6:00pm.
Anyone aged 16+ can attend the clinic which will be offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Second doses need to be a minimum of 8 weeks after the first.
The clinic will operate from the store’s first floor changing rooms and will be accessible via the in-store lift and escalator.
Individuals do not have to pre-book, but can just walk-in on the day.
There will also be opportunity to speak to an experienced midwife about the vaccine and resolve any concerns people may have around fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Pam Luxon, midwife at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and Clinical Lead for the clinic said:
“COVID-19 has not disappeared despite restrictions being relaxed. Infections are on the rise, putting more people at risk especially if they haven't been vaccinated. The vaccines are proven to significantly reduce the chances of becoming seriously ill from the virus or worse.
“So while you're shopping this bank holiday weekend, pop along to this clinic and help save lives too by getting your COVID vaccine to protect yourself and others..”
Dr Will Maimaris, Director of Public Health at Haringey said:
“It is really important that everyone over 16 gets vaccinated as soon as possible. With COVID-19 cases on the rise in Haringey, the vaccine is our best chance of keeping each other safe from serious illness and death.
"The pop-up clinic at Primark is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has not yet done so, to get their jab, so don’t miss out. Remember each of us has a responsibility to do what we can to control the spread of the virus and get back to a more normal way of life.”
Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director for Primark added:
“Following the success of the vaccination clinics in our stores in Bristol and Birmingham, we’re pleased to be able to offer people in London the opportunity to get their vaccine this weekend at our Wood Green and Oxford Street (East) store. Wherever we can we try to support important local community initiatives and we’re really pleased that we can play a small part in supporting the work of the NHS by making it even easier for people to get their vaccine.”
COVID-19 remains a real threat, even though restrictions have lifted and so it is still important that you get vaccinated, if you haven’t already, as the vaccines offer the best protection against the virus.
Everyone is entitled to get vaccinated, regardless of your immigration status and whether or not you are registered with a GP.
Please note: Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last four weeks or been instructed to self-isolate should not attend this clinic.
