Our parks this weekend
We are urging our residents to continue to stay home as much as possible to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, protect our NHS and save lives.
However, we know that visiting our parks can be valuable for mental health and wellbeing. With that in mind, if you do visit, please stay at least 2m from others, do not meet more than one other person outside of your household and be respectful of everyone around you.
We are patrolling our parks to ensure visitors are following the social distancing rules by always staying two metres away from people who are not from the same household. Dogs must also be kept on leads at all times.
All council-run sports facilities, including our basketball and tennis courts, will remain closed until further notice. This will be kept under regular review and any updates will be posted on our parks pages. All playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms are currently closed.
Some tennis courts are independently managed by community sports organisations, and will be open, including Finsbury Park (external link), Albert Road Recreation Ground (external link) and Bruce Castle Park (external link), which all require pre-booking. Please do not turn up without a slot.
Please check online for further information on independently-run courts.
The government has shared updated guidance on staying safe outside your home (external link).
Thank you to everyone who has been using our parks responsibly. We really appreciate your cooperation and support. Together, we can save lives.
