Oak trees in Queen’s Wood – an update
No action will be taken on the four Oak trees in Queen’s Wood for a further four-week period after an extension was agreed between AXA and Haringey Council.
AXA are awaiting further expert evidence in this matter, and we remain keen to continue to work with them to explore all other options for the trees.
Cllr Kirsten Hearn, Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Sustainability, said:
Like the campaigners, I don’t want to lose these four Oaks from this ancient woodland. I’d like to thank them and local residents for their continued patience and understanding throughout this time. It is important that all options are explored, and we are keen to hear the findings from AXA’s experts and work with the insurers to find any alternatives.
This latest announcement means that no action will be taken for at least four weeks from today (Friday 18 September).
We will continue to engage with the campaigners in the meantime, and we will share any further updates with the wider community on this website as soon as it becomes available.
