Haringey Youth Zone
On Tuesday (September 11) Cabinet decided not to go ahead with proposals to develop a Haringey Youth Zone
Cllr Mark Blake, Cabinet Member for Communities, Safety and Engagement, said:
“Haringey’s young people deserve the very best start in life, and we are absolutely committed to delivering the facilities and opportunities they want and need. We want children and young people to lead the way when it comes to shaping these services and we are talking to them about what they would like to see.
“This year we invested £100,000 in extra summer activities, as a direct result of conversations we had with young people. With huge pressures on our budget it is vital that we spend our money in the right places, based on what Haringey’s communities tell us would make the most difference.
“With this in mind, we have decided not to proceed with the Youth Zone proposals. We want to continue looking at all of our options, including how we can develop more local and targeted services at a number of sites across the borough.
“I would encourage Haringey’s young people to make their voices heard so we can continue to work with them to deliver an even brighter and better future.”
