Haringey’s youth to shape health and wellbeing agenda
Young people across the borough are being encouraged to share their creativity to help shape Haringey’s future health strategy.
#Fixup_LookSharp on Tuesday 13 February will give young people aged 13 to 20 a chance to share their creative ideas on how to tackle issues with body image, physical health, eating well, and being active in Haringey.
More than half of all adults and one in three 10 and 11 year olds living in Haringey are classed as overweight. The council worked with local community groups and the Youth Council to create this event, which aims to give young people the power to shape the health agenda in Haringey.
As well as brainstorming ideas, a range of activities planned for the event include: dancers, prizes, and a special guest appearance by YouTube sensation Gogo from BkChat LDN. The winning idea will have the opportunity to become a reality in Haringey.
Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Health, Cllr Jason Arthur said:
Encouraging young people to engage with important topics such as healthy living early in their lives is a vital step in our fight against chronic health problems. This is a great opportunity for the borough’s youngsters to have a say on issues which could impact their generation and others in the future.”
#FixUp_LookSharp takes place 2.30pm to 6.30pm at Alexandra Palace. Tickets can be booked at fixuplooksharp.eventbrite.co.uk. Booking is essential. Free food and refreshments will be available on the day.
