Haringey Council denounces anti-Semitism
“Haringey Council stands against all forms of hate speech and we affirm our unequivocal denunciation of any and every manifestation of anti-Semitism, whether it is on the social media feed of a musician like the grime artist Wiley, or on the streets of Stamford Hill in Haringey.
“We are proud of the ethnic, religious and social diversity clearly apparent within our borough. People have come from all parts of the world over many generations to make Haringey their home, they are our friends, our neighbours, our extended family.
“We are very clear that anti-Semitism and hate speech have no place in our society or in our borough. We cannot leave any stream of anti-Jewish racism unchallenged because to do so helps create a very real atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
“We stand by and support the Jewish community in Haringey and beyond. In a borough like ours, an attack on any one of us, is an attack on every one of us.”
Joint Statement by the Leader of Haringey Council, Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, and the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sheila Peacock
