Haringey celebrates Pride in London
Haringey was well represented when the UK’s biggest and most diverse Pride event, Pride in London, returned to London this Saturday after a 2-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
2022 is a significant year for the Pride movement and the LGBTQ+ community, as it marks a half century since the first Pride took place in the United Kingdom.
Starting at midday, the Pride in London parade passed through central London between Hyde Park Corner and Trafalgar Square, tracing part of the original 1972 route.
The Haringey delegation - a partnership between Haringey Council, Wood Green Business Improvement District (BID) and other community groups - carried colourful banners and placards to celebrate and stand in solidarity with out LGBTQ+ communities here in Haringey and across the world.
Haringey's own Haringey Pride festival, organised by Wood Green BID with partners, is taking place this year on 10 September.
