COVID-19 Testing in Haringey

Coronavirus Local Test Sites (LTS) are now operating in Haringey.
How to get a test
You can apply for a test if you:
- have coronavirus symptoms now (a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a change to your sense of smell or taste)
- if you have been told to have a test before you go into hospital, for example, for surgery
- if you are an essential worker your employer can ask for you to take a test if you are self-isolating because either they or member(s) of your household have coronavirus symptoms.

Location of test sites
There are currently 2 test sites in Haringey:
- Alexandra Palace, Paddock Car Park, Hornsey Gate, Alexandra Palace Way, N8 7HP - get directions to the Alexandra Palace testing site from Google Maps (external link). Parking is available on site.
- Haringey Irish Centre Car Park, Pretoria Road, N17 8DX - get directions to the Irish Centre from Google Maps (external link). No parking available on site, so you must either arrive by foot or bike.
- Stamford Hill Primary School, Berkeley Road, N15 6HD, No parking available on site, so you must either arrive by foot or bike.
Please note you must book an appointment at both sites.
They currently operate seven days a week from 8am until 8pm (NB appointment only)
What to bring
You will need the unique code you were given when you booked the test appointment. Please be advised these are Covid-19 secure environments, you will need to be wearing a face-covering unless you have an exemption.
Please also remember to observe social distancing and keep 2 metres away from anyone not in your household if you need to queue.
When to get the test done
You should get the test done within the first 5 days of having symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough and loss or change of taste or smell). Do not wait. Ask for the test as soon as you have symptoms.
You should also book a test if you have been asked to by your doctor or by the council.
What happens at the test site?
Staff will take a swab from the inside of your nose and the back of your throat, using a long cotton bud. This will be tested to find out if you have or have had the virus.
You should receive your test results by text message (most people get their results within 48 hours, but it could take up to 5 days.)
What does the test involve?
The test is an ‘antigen test’. It tests if you currently have coronavirus. It involves taking a swab of the inside of your nose and the back of your throat, using a long cotton bud.
While you wait for your results, you (and anyone you live with) must continue to self-isolate. Read NHS advice about how long to self-isolate.
You cannot just turn up and get a test. You will not be allowed in if you have not booked in advance. Please visit the government website to make an appointment (external page).
If your condition gets worse
If your condition gets worse, or you do not get better after 7 days, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
For a medical emergency, dial 999. Call 111 if you are worried about a baby or child. If they seem very unwell; are getting worse; or you think there's something seriously wrong, call 999.

Can people I live with also book a test?
If people you live with have symptoms, they should join you for testing. In England and Wales, children of all ages can have the test.
What do I need to complete the form?
Visit the dedicated Getting tested page at GOV.UK (external link). To complete the form to book your visit, you will need:
- your invitation code – it is in the text message that you are sent
- your email address
- your mobile phone number
- the name, email address and mobile number of any other people you live with who will be tested
