Council seeks residents’ views on zebra crossing
Residents in Haringey are being asked to share their views on the council’s proposal to install a zebra crossing on Shelbourne Road, in order to improve pedestrian safety.
The proposed works would see improved safety and accessibility at the location – particularly for children attending Harris Academy Primary School – and is an issue that has raised concerns from residents for some time.
The scheme, part of the council’s Walking Improvement programme, would see the introduction of a new zebra crossing on Shelbourne Road near to the junction of Glendish Road, and the removal of approximately five parking spaces, to improve visibility for pedestrians as well as motorists.
The works also tie into the council’s wider plans to support active travel for residents in Haringey.
The council is seeking residents’ views through a five-week consultation, which runs until Tuesday 15 September. The full details of the consultation and the proposed work will be uploaded on the consultations page from Wednesday 12 August.
Residents can email their views to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Haringey Council's Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said:
We know that residents have, for some time, expressed a desire for better crossing facilities on Shelbourne Road, to improve safety for pedestrians, particularly for children travelling to and from school.
We have listened to their concerns and I am now really pleased to share these proposals with them. We are committed to promoting the safety of our residents and are keen to hear their views.
