Changes to Haringey’s Cabinet
Two new members have joined Haringey Council’s Cabinet.
Cllr Sarah James joins as Cabinet Member for Adults and Health, with Cllr Kaushika Amin responsible for Civic Services.
They take over from Cllrs Peray Ahmet and Zena Brabazon.
Cllr James’s portfolio covers adult social care, the Health and Wellbeing Board, mental health and wellbeing, public health, safeguarding adults, services for adults with disabilities and additional needs plus oversight of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
Cllr James – who represents Harringay ward – has taught in further, adult and higher education for more than 20 years, primarily working with students with specific learning difficulties, and last year joined Haringey’s Adults and Health Scrutiny panel and the Planning Committee.
Cllr Amin’s role as Cabinet Member for Civic Services covers culture (including Bruce Castle), customer services, customer transformation programme, the Fairness Commission, libraries, leisure, Northumberland Park resident engagement, and the rollout of support for Universal Credit.
Cllr Amin – who represents Northumberland Park ward and is of Indian and Kenyan origin – has been a Cabinet member previously, is a former Haringey Mayor and has chaired a range of committees. She has lived in the Tottenham for more than 35 years and raised her family in the borough.
