Celebrating Haringey’s unsung Heroes
Do you know someone making a difference in the community during the coronavirus pandemic?
The Mayor of Haringey, Sheila Peacock has today announced a new ‘Haringey Heroes Awards’ to celebrate Haringey’s unsung heroes.

Residents are encouraged to come forward and nominate someone who has helped them the most during the outbreak - it could be a volunteer, a bus driver, their local GP surgery a family member or someone who has gone the extra mile to brighten up a neighbour’s day.
The nominated person may have helped with their food shopping, picked up their mail, walked their dog or helped to collect medicines - or even someone who has helped ease their loneliness by having regular conversations with them.
Residents have until the end of August to put forward their nominations for the Awards. All nominees brought forward with receive a special certificate thanking them for their efforts to support the community during these unprecedented times.
A badge of honour will also be awarded to a select few, who have shown an outstanding contribution during the outbreak.
The Mayor said:
Throughout these unprecedented and uncertain times, we have seen our community step up to support each other like never before. We have never been prouder of the goodwill of our community – that’s why we created the Haringey Heroes Awards
“Through these Awards we can recognise and thank those unsung heroes – whose generosity and support for helping others has shown no bounds
“Our much-loved NHS is at the forefront of the battle against coronavirus, but our unsung heroes are also making a difference to people’s lives on a local level. To them, on behalf of Haringey, I send a heartfelt thank you.
Do you know of someone who has made a difference in the community? If so, why not nominate them as a Haringey Hero? Find out more and nominate someone online. If you don’t know the name of the person you want to nominate, someone like a street sweeper, or shop owner etc, please give us as much detail as possible and we’ll try our best to track them down and sing their praises!
