Building collapse - Vale Road
A two-storey industrial building that was being demolished in Vale Road, N4, partially collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.
Sadly, a site worker died at the scene after becoming trapped. We want to offer our sincere condolences to the man’s family and friends.
Fire crews, the Metropolitan Police and the Health and Safety Executive all attended the scene and HSE are leading enquiries.
Residents at a nearby building needed to evacuate their homes. Council staff set up a rest centre, have been providing support and assistance, and have found temporary accommodation for all those who need it.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Haringey Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said:
This is devastating news and my heart goes out to the friends and family of the man who has so sadly died.
The emergency services attended the scene and the HSE are leading investigations. As a council we are supporting residents who needed to evacuate their homes nearby – we have found temporary accommodation for all those who need it at this very challenging time.
