Bank Holiday Monday - Impact on services
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral will take place on Monday, 19 September which has also been confirmed as a national Bank Holiday by King Charles III.
Some services provided by Haringey Council – or run on our behalf – will be closed or operate at reduced capacity.
Please find below all the key information you need and the change to services for that day.
Leisure Centres
All council leisure centres and those run on our behalf will be closed.
Libraries and museum
All libraries, as well as Bruce Castle Museum and Archive, will be closed. Libraries will re-open on Tuesday, 20 September and Bruce Castle Museum on Wednesday, 22 September in line with its usual operating times.
Recycling and rubbish collections
There will be no waste and recycling collections on Monday. Bin collections will take place one day later than normal between Tuesday 20 September and Saturday 24 September. Normal collections will resume on Monday, 26 September.
Reuse and recycling centres
The North London Waste Authority have announced that all their reuse and recycling centres, including in Western Road, Wood Green, will be closed on Monday.
Housing repairs
Only emergency housing repairs will be carried out on Monday. The repairs emergency number is: 020 8489 5611.
Customer Service Centres.
Our Customer Service Centres at Marcus Garvey and Wood Green libraries will be closed.
Schools
All Haringey schools will be closed and will reopen as normal on Tuesday 20 September.
Books of Condolence
All council buildings where residents can currently sign the Book of Condolence, including George Meehan House and libraries, will be closed on Monday.
Children’s services
Both the Haringey Learning Partnership and the Maya Angelou Family Family Centre will be closed on Monday.
Parking
On Bank Holidays and public holidays, parking is free in:
- a controlled parking zone (CPZ) – no need to have a resident or visitor parking permit
- all on-street pay by phone parking bays
- open council car parks.
In addition, School Streets, will not be enforced.
