Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Emily Arkell, officially opened the newly renovated play space on Friday (25 July 2025), when she was joined by Hornsey ward Cllrs Dana Carlin and Adam Small, as well as Cllr Cressida Johnson, a ward Cllr for Crouch End.

The improvements to the children’s playground in Priory Park include: accessible play, two multi-use units, an obstacle course, two picnic benches, two play panels, a springer, a trampoline and a zipwire.

The trampoline and zipwire were popular with children at the launch event as we celebrated the start of Love Parks Week in Haringey.

Cllrs Arkell, Carlin, Johnson and Small also congratulated Alexandra, who won a competition among local primary schools to design two panels for the new slide.

Alexandra’s panel design features five butterflies, including one on the very tip of a finger, along with a speech bubble that says: “Be who you want to be” with a heart emoji.

These upgrades to the children’s playground in Priory Park are part of a number of improvements the council are making to parks and green, open spaces across the borough.

Amenities and facilities at eight parks in Tottenham and Wood Green are to benefit from a significant £1.5m investment, with all the projects estimated to be completed by Spring next year.
