
Residents will come together before, during and after Windrush Day for a packed schedule of engaging discussions as well as cultural activities and events for all the family.
Highlighting the significant contribution the Windrush Generation and their descendants have made, and continue to make, to our borough and British life, Haringey celebrates Windrush Day on 22 June each year, with events held on and around this date across the borough.
The council’s Race Equality Network EMBRACE will be holding a ‘Creating Generational Wealth’ event at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre on Friday evening (20 June, 6:30pm-9:30pm).
Hosted by BBC Radio London presenter Eddie Nestor MBE, expert speakers Emmanuel Asuquo, Jude Brown and Deirdre Mundembe will be giving presentations on such subjects as: ‘Financial Literacy for adult and young people (14+)’ and ‘Overcoming Psychological Barriers to Wealth.’
There will also be a Q&A session with top financial and legal experts.

Celebrating Caribbean culture and bringing the wider community together, Lordship Rec will play host to a Blockorama Steel Pan Music Festival this Saturday (21 June 2025) between 12noon and 8pm.
There will be family activities, food and market stalls available throughout the day, with music from DJ Martin Jay, Pan Nation and young Haringey talent.

There’s also a heritage walk exploring 400 years of Black history in and around Bruce Castle, All Hallows and Tottenham Cemetery on Windrush Day (Sunday 22 June 2025) this year.
Join guide Avril Nanton as she looks back over four centuries of Tottenham’s Black history and shares the lives of local activists, changemakers and heroes.
From 17th century pioneers to the Windrush Generation, this small pocket of Tottenham tells the story of communities that have shaped Haringey and the world beyond.
Attendees should meet at 1:45pm for a 2pm start outside the clocktower entrance to Bruce Castle Museum and Archive (N17 8NU). They are advised to please dress for the hot/warm weather, wear appropriate shoes for walking and bring a bottle of water.

The Engine Room in Tottenham Hale is staging a week-long Windrush Legacy Celebration of the rich culture and heritage immigrants of that era brought to these shores and Europe.
There will be art, artefacts, dance, entertainment, music and spoken word performances, as well as fine Caribbean canapes, drinks and opportunities for networking.
The launch event for this week-long celebration is on next Friday (27 June 2025) from 4:30pm to 8pm.

Queens of the City CIC will be presenting a celebratory, intergenerational ‘Her Roots, Her Crown’ event at The Trampery (639 High Road, N17 8AA) on Saturday 28 June (1pm-5pm).
Open to everyone aged 14 and above, residents will benefit from a beauty and bonding experience bringing together Windrush generation women and young women from Haringey to share identity, stories and wisdom through conversation, nails and poetry.

Residents can also take up the opportunity to become part of an exciting new ‘Windrush Wonder’ art project happening across Haringey community settings and schools, resulting in an exhibition celebrating the contributions of the Windrush communities.
Pop along to Karamel and Long Lounge at the Chocolate Factory (4 Coburg Road, Wood Green, N22 6UJ) on Sunday (22 June, 10:30am-12noon) and see some of the art already produced, talk to the programme leaders and take part in a free art workshop to produce work that may become part of the exhibition. It’s free to attend and open to all family members.
