The council is investing in improvement works to this Hornsey haven and tree-lined treasure – to keep the good times rolling for many more years and decades to come!
As part of ongoing improvement works at this facility, the Lido will be closed for an estimated 10 days from Tuesday 17 June 2025 onwards. It’s currently scheduled to re-open on Friday 27 June 2025.
These works are essential to replace the pool pumps and pipework, which are approaching the end of their life cycle.
Without this intervention and investment by the council, there would remain a risk of service disruption during the busiest time of the year for the Lido over the summer months of July and August.
During this closure, preparatory works will take place prior to the installation of the pool covers for the Lido, which is currently scheduled to be completed during the week commencing Monday 30 June 2025. It is not expected that the Lido will need to be closed fully again to install the covers for it.
The new circulation pumps and pool covers will lead to a saving of over £35,000 in the running costs of the Lido and reduce the overall carbon emissions from its operation.
Other improvement works that will take place include upgrades to the showers, with one bank due to be repaired during the 10-day closure and the other following suit the week after. Some areas of the paving slabs and red surround of the Lido will also be repaired.
Lido users will be able to swim in the main indoor pool while the Lido is temporarily out of action. Please check our website for more details of lane swimming and further information about other programmes.
The replacement pipes and pumps at the Lido complement the improvements that are already well underway at the teaching pool, including the regrouting and replacing of the tiling in and around the pool.
