Leader of Haringey Council Cllr Peray Ahmet and Deputy Leader Cllr Sarah Williams joined local councillors and representatives from developers Berkeley for the important milestone, which signifies the structural completion of the building called Bluebell House.
The new council rent homes are part of Alexandra Gate in N8, which will deliver 1,800 homes for Haringey, including 500 which are affordable, along with new community amenities.
Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:
We are very happy to celebrate this milestone, which marks significant progress in the delivery of 46 much-needed council homes. This important redevelopment of a brownfield site will provide hundreds of affordable homes, and it’s been great to see first-hand the new neighbourhood take shape.
Working together with Berkeley we are ensuring Alexandra Gate will deliver high quality, desirable and genuinely affordable family-sized council homes which sit alongside beautifully landscaped communal areas and top of the range children’s play areas. Moving into these properties will be life-changing for local people on our waiting list.
We are committed to providing the safe, secure and spacious council homes for our residents, and we are on track to deliver 3,000 by 2031, with more than 2,000 homes already started or completed.
