An upgraded parking permit platform has launched with improved design, making it easier to navigate and is more accessible for residents.
As part of the development process, the council listened to residents about the issues they faced with the previous platform. Working hard together and with the software developer, the upgraded platform is much smoother, with fewer clicks needed to resolve parking permit needs.
New features introduced, such as no limit on the number of visitor permits residents can buy and improved change of address procedure will make the process easier, with new users benefiting from a clearer and simpler account creation process.
The improved design is in line with government standards, meaning it is easier to use with a less confusing layout. It is also more accessible with improved usability for customers using a screen reader, voice commands or screen magnifier and it can be used on mobiles, tablets and computers.
Development has taken longer than expected but the council worked hard with software developer and residents who have tested the account, to make sure the upgraded platform launches without problems.
The launch is accompanied by ‘how to’ videos as well as customer services being on standby to help with any questions residents may have.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Resident Services and Tackling Inequality, said:
I am delighted that we have upgraded our online parking permit platform for residents which will make their lives easier when renewing or buying new parking permits.
Residents often told us of the problems with the old platform, so we worked hard with them to make the upgrade fit for purpose, to make it is easier to use, meets higher user standards and makes transactions quicker.
We have created ‘how to videos’ and our customer services team is ready to help to make sure the introduction of this upgrade is as smooth as possible.
Residents can now use the upgraded system, where they can find videos to help with setting up a permit account or resetting a password, finding out what a resident qualification is and how to buy, book or cancel visitor permits.
