Haringey coronavirus (COVID-19) updates
Rearranging your driving tests
Learner drivers waiting to take their tests should have received an email asking them to rearrange their exam date if it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Government says that if for any reason the email address provided by the learner is not working then you should receive a text message or letter in the post within the next few days.
Drivers are reminded that they will be expected to take the test wearing a face covering or mask.
Those unable to wear one because of a pre-existing condition will have to inform the test centre beforehand.
The latest Government advice also warns that critical workers will no longer be able to apply for emergency driving tests.
For more information about tests you should check out the Government website here (external link).
It is important that you should not go to the test centre if you or someone you live with has coronavirus symptoms.
You must also not take the test if you have been told by the NHS Test and Trace service that you have been in contact with someone who has coronavirus.
If you have to cancel the test for one of those reasons you can rearrange the examination free of charge. You can find out how, here (external link).
Dos and don’ts for young adults and child carers
Young adults and children who are caring for friends or relatives can now get advice on what to do online.
The Government has created a new page full of guidance specifically for carers under 25.
It offers useful tips on what you should do to avoid getting COVID-19 or spreading it, where to go for help, and how to stay healthy.
It also comes in an easy read version. You can find all the information here (external link).
Help and support for your business during COVID-19
If your business or self-employment has been struggling since the lockdown began, help is at hand.
HMRC has put together some useful videos and is running free webinars for firms and individuals hit by Coronavirus (COVID-19).
There’s advice about how to navigate your way through grants; the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and flexible furloughing; and Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Rebates to help you through this difficult time.
You can find all the information you need here (external link).
