Advice on marriage and civil partnerships

16 September 2020

The Government has launched a how to guide for couples planning to get married or enter into a civil partnership over the coming months.

Advice on how many people can attend, what test and trace measures you should have in place and even how you should say your vows, is included in the document.

It comes as part of a raft of Covid-19 recommendations to protect people from catching or passing on the virus.

The guidance can be found here (external link).

Government guidance on new Covid-19 socialising laws released

15 September 2020

New regulations that came into force on Monday have restricted the number of people you may socialise with both at home and outdoors.

The new anti-Covid-19 measures limit groups to just six people from different households, with a few exceptions.

Anyone found socialising in groups of more than this can face fines, which start at £100.

However, there are understandably many questions about what you can and cannot do under the new laws.

You can find the answers to a lot of them in this recently published Q&A (external link).

Reskilling the Recovery campaign - a new apprenticeship fund for SMEs

15 September 2020

We're well aware that the COVID-19 crisis has had an unprecedented impact, with SMEs amongst the hardest hit. Many firms are being forced to change the way they operate and even restructure staff.

That’s why we're pleased to be supporting a new initiative, led by the London Progression Collaboration (LPC), to support SME recovery via a dedicated apprenticeship fund.

Reskilling the Recovery campaignThe Reskilling the Recovery campaign (external link) is helping large employers to pledge their unspent apprenticeship levy funds to enable small businesses to offer apprenticeship opportunities, recognising that the right people with the right skills are vital to business success. The apprenticeship opportunities created will help small businesses access training, as well as helping Londoners into work and to progress in work.

The campaign has already secured pledges of over £1.2m of unspent apprenticeship levy funding from organisations like Amazon, The BBC and several London Boroughs. These funds are immediately available to SMEs, and will cover the full cost of apprenticeship training for new and existing staff in their businesses.

As well as the funding, the London Progression Collaboration also offers businesses support and advice around how to get started with apprenticeships and how to make the most of the opportunities that they present. Their work is funded by the London Mayor and J.P. Morgan, so there is no cost to you.

If you would like to have a conversation with LPC about whether an apprenticeship would be right for your business and how to access the funding and support, please get in touch with us via email at hal.khanom@haringey.gov.uk
