Haringey coronavirus (COVID-19) updates
Haringey’s Director of Public Health Dr Will Maimaris, has a reassuring message for residents about the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and its safety.
Dr Maimaris is urging everyone to continue getting the jab when it is your turn to help protect yourself, your loved ones and the people of Haringey from the COVID-19 virus.
From today (17 March), everyone aged 50 years and over can now book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment as the NHS continues to widen the eligibility. People in this age group do not need to wait for an invitation letter from the NHS and can book an appointment online at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination (external link) or by calling 119 for free.
More than 24.8 million people across the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine. The NHS is continuing to follow the official advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and is vaccinating those most at risk first, and those who work closest with them, followed by the wider population in order of risk and age.

We are hosting a live webinar where you will have the opportunity to get your COVID-19 vaccine-related questions answered by a panel of public health professionals.
The virtual event is being chaired by the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Adam Jogee on Tuesday 30 March 2021 at 7pm. Guest speakers on the night will include local GP partner Dr Fola Akintunde-Edun, NHS Haringey Prescribing Advisor Isaac Quarm, and Deputy Head of Medicines Management at NHS Haringey, Efa Mortty.
We are inviting you to submit your vaccine questions and queries beforehand so that they can be addressed by the panel, but there will also be an opportunity to ask our experts directly on the night.
Please submit your questions here via our short survey (external link).
The event will be hosted on Facebook Live, but don’t worry – you don’t need a Facebook account to join. For more information and to register your interest please visit the Facebook event page (external link).
