Haringey's Community Engagement Framework

The Haringey Strategic Partnership (HSP) is committed to making sure that people in Haringey can have their say, are listened to, and are involved in making decisions.

The HSP is a partnership of local public agencies, community groups and businesses working together to improve public services and address the key issues in the borough. More information on the HSP can be found on the Haringey Strategic Partnership page.

The HSP’s aim is to improve public services in the borough through partnership working. One way we are doing this is through Haringey’s Community Engagement Framework (CEF). The Framework includes clear principles for HSP organisations to use when carrying out community engagement in Haringey. These are to:

  • work in partnership to join up our engagement activities
  • engage when it will make a difference
  • be clear about what we are asking
  • be inclusive and aim to engage with all communities
  • communicate the results of engagement activities
  • build capacity of communities to take part in engagement activities.

How did we develop the Community Engagement Framework?

Between January and April 2009, Haringey residents and community groups gave us their thoughts on community engagement in the borough and commented on the draft Community Engagement Framework. We used these views to develop the Framework.

We have included a report on the consultation results, and a ‘You Said, We Did’ table that shows how we used community views to develop the principles (see attached files below). The final version of the Framework can also be found in the attached files at the bottom of this page.

What now?

We have produced summary and easy read versions of the Community Engagement Framework (see attached files below). In addition we have produced a Delivery Plan (see attached files below) to help us work towards the Framework’s principles. This Delivery Plan is a living document and will be regularly monitored by the CEF Steering Group – which reports to the HSP’s Business Group. It will be reviewed in 2012.
