Outcomes from 2014/15 school expansion proposals
In 2014 Haringey council carried out consultation on the potential expansion of 3 primary schools, Bounds Green Infant and Junior school N11, St Mary's CE Primary school N8 and St James's CofE Primary school N10.
Following an analysis of the representations received as part of this consultation a decision was taken by the council's Cabinet to expand both St Mary's school and Bounds Green school from their current two forms of entry to three forms of entry from September 2015 and September 2016 respectively. St Mary’s admitted 90 reception pupils to the school in September 2015 and in September 2016 Bounds Green will increase its reception number from 60 to 90. The increase in pupils will be incremental and by 2022 both schools will be three form across all year groups. The Cabinet report that led to the decision to expand these two schools can be viewed online.
Following consultation on the possible expansion of St James CofE Primary School it was decided to have a wider conversation about how additional school places might be provided in the Muswell Hill area.
In September 2015 a Cabinet report provided updated information on Haringey’s school roll projections showing that the Muswell Hill area is expected to have a sufficiency of reception places up to and including the year 2024. A Cabinet decision taken on 15 September agreed a recommendation that no further consultation on providing additional reception places in Muswell Hill should be carried out at the current time.
Haringey will continue to closely monitor school place provision across the borough.
