Stanley Culcross Open Space
West Green Road, London N15.
- Under 12s play area
About the park
Stanley Culcross open space is a small grassy open space. It provides welcome green space in a densely built-up area between West Green Road and the housing estate on Albany Close to the south. It has a number of mature trees and is notable for the small hillocks and contours in the heart of the site.
Anstey Walk, which bisects the green space, provides pedestrian access to and from the estate. The green space also extends towards Stanley Road to the west. This area of the open space has some newer trees that were planted around 2016.
The Red House site (former old people’s home) to the north east of the park is subject to a planning application to provide 88 units of housing and some other amenities. This development may provide opportunities for securing some improvements to the open space and its facilities. Details of the planning application (reference HGY/2018/1806) and proposals can be found on the planning portal website.
In late 2019 a small group of local residents have taken an interest in improving Stanley Culcross open space (and the nearby Stanley Road pocket park). They have their eye on helping to secure improvements to the open space, including improving the playground area and on making it feel safer to walk through the open space at night.
